When the Arthur Hills Golf Course at Palmetto Hall first debuted in 1991 this par 72 layout was a success by anyones standards. This Hilton Head location has earned a rating of 4 stars by Golf Digest and has been named as one of their Best Places to Play in 2008 and 2009. The putting surfaces that are now present were part of a major 2005 renovation that has increased the playability factors at this Low Country classic. The Hills Hilton Head Island golf course is famous for the way the holes gracefully flow from one to the other in a truly natural setting. There is a signature 18th hole that was chosen by WTOC as one of the Low Countrys top 18 holes to play in 2008 and 2009. This par 4 feature offers Hilton Head golfers a unique and challenging way to end a round at Palmetto Hall Plantation. The fairways are edged by tall oaks and gently swaying pines and the greens are very well protected by an assortment of very strategically placed bunkers. Large lakes are scattered throughout the Arthur Hills Golf Course and water hazards add additional excitement along the way. There are two golf courses available at Palmetto Hall Plantation and both the Arthur Hills and Robert Cupp locations are extremely well maintained throughout the year. Many visitors are surprised by the heavily wooded surroundings that add a unique charm to the course. This site is an official Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary and the management is committed to protecting the natural surroundings and native wildlife. The Arthur Hills Hilton Head Island golf course might be one of your best chances to catch a glimpse of one of the Low Country gators basking near the water. The Southern style Clubhouse is elegant and inviting and gives players a much-needed break between or after their rounds of golf. This building covers 14,000 square feet and houses a pro shop and restaurant where meals and snacks are available. There are carts and equipment that you can rent, but it is best to reserve these ahead of time. If you are looking to lock in a couple of fast rounds then the early morning hours are probably going to be your best bet.
