The Best Golf in Hilton Head Island
Country Club of Hilton Head
Golf in Hilton Head is a top draw for many of the finest professional players and those who enjoy it as a sport.
Country Club of Hilton Head is one of my favorite Hilton Head golf courses because of the 12th hole. This hole is one of the most scenic on Hilton Head Island.
The 18 hole layout was designed by none other than Rees Jones who is one of the top course designers and architects. Each hole at the Country Club of Hilton Head showcases the natural beauty of the surroundings and can easily make you forget the real reason you are there.
At Hilton Head Country Club you will negotiate holes bordered by tall, swaying pines and stately oak trees that will be far trickier than they appear. The opportunity to play some great Hilton Head Island golf is before you but you need to plot your strategy to avoid salt-water marshes and confidently loft balls over fresh water lagoons.
The first hole is a beautifully landscaped and narrow dogleg with water bordering the right just waiting to capture a too enthusiastic long shot. The landing area is tightly bunkered and you need your accuracy to be spot on if you want to start your round with a Par 4 or under. There are 4 sets of tees throughout the Hilton Head Island golf course that enable players of all levels to get in on the action.
At the 9th hole, many of the best golfers consider anyone who can make the requisite Par 4 to be an ace with a club. There are some high mounds, deep bunkers to contend with and an intimidating oak tree stands just to the right of the tees on this Hilton Head golf course.
The 12th hole is the signature for the Country Club of Hilton Head course and Jones made the most of this sites elevation. This is the highest point on Hilton Head Island and you owe it to yourself to personally experience the panoramic views and challenging play. Golf in Hilton Head is at its best on this hole.
At the 18th hole the open design is too enticing not to try some experimentation. This hole is a long dogleg right and even though it is listed as a Par 5 a birdie is definitely within the grasp of most players. This Hilton Head golf course is full of personality. The Hilton Head Country Club defines golf in Hilton Head.
Country Club of Hilton Head, South Carolina golf course is private. A full service establishment with hospitality shown by the members and staff puts everyone at ease from the moment they arrive. Tennis and swimming are available, on site as well as an array of organized events that the entire family can enjoy.
In addition to beverage cart service, you can enjoy the snack bar or the casual setting of the Pub Room. For fare that is more formal the Grille Room is also available and the chefs create some wonderful dishes that can be enjoyed at dinner. The Salmon Bruschetta appetizer and Lobster Pasta entrée are both superb.
